Tips and Tools: Seam Gauge

Tips and Tools

Back to the basics again this week!  Do you have one of these yet?

It's called a seam gauge and it's basically a 6" ruler.  The part that makes it extra useful is the little blue guide.  It moves up and down the ruler to help you keep hem lines straight while you're pinning or pressing them.

It might seem really simple, but sometimes it's these simple inexpensive tools that can make the sewing process go so much smoother which will mean you end up with better results.  If you don't have a seam gauge, I highly suggest you get one.  Just might be the best $3 you ever spent!  And while you're there, if you don't own a seam ripper pick one of those up too!

Next week on Tips and Tools - PILLOWS!  We will answer all your questions!  Stay tuned!

I use it all the time!!! I couldn’t sew without it! The best one is the first one which doesn’t have the pointy thing on it. But I use them both every time I sew.
