Scandi Stockings

Hello friends! Last week – just in time for the Quilting on the Red Quilt Show – we released our latest pattern! The Scandi Stockings pattern includes instructions to make four different stocking designs that are pieced and quilted. A full size paper pattern for the stocking is also included, along with instructions to make a “whole cloth” stocking, bringing the grand total up to FIVE stockings in one pattern. Start changing up the fabric combos inside each design and the options are limitless!

I’ve been wanting to design a stocking for a couple of years now, but the timing and ideas never collided in just the right way. This year I was bound and determined to make stockings! As I sorted through my pin boards of holiday decor I noticed that the stockings that really drew me in where knitted, most with a Scandinavian sweater motif. I love that classic Christmas look, but alas knitted stockings wasn’t what I had in mind! But couldn’t we piece stockings in the same manner with the same general feeling? I used some classic sweater design elements and put them into quilted form. And here’s what I came up with!

Snowflake Stocking

Gnome Stocking

Tree Stocking

Striped Stocking

I’m so excited about how they turned out, and I hope you are too! The stockings are quilted and fulling lined, with a nice cuff and loop to hang them from. I think they are just the right size to actually hold gifts from Santa, but not so big your stocking stuffer budget shoots through the roof! The classic style will transition with your Christmas decor for years to come. And you can make the colors work with your specific color scheme! Isn’t that the best part of handmade – you don’t have to settle for the colors that you find in the store, make this work for you! Our stockings are made from Bella Solids from Moda, but we could definitely see these in fun prints as well.

Kits are available for each stocking in the same fabrics as the sample. Our pattern is sold separately from the kits. (Just in case you need multiple stocking kits, we don’t want you to have to buy the pattern multiple times!) You can find the pattern here will all the details on supply requirements.

On Friday, October 27th our Scandi Stockings pattern will be on sale to help celebrate Red and White Stripes day with Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Red River Valley! Plus 10% of our sales for the entire day will be donated to RMHC. Shop in store or online to help support this amazing charity. Find all the details to this event here!

We hope you have a blast making Scandi Stockings and that they become part of your family’s traditions each year.

Happy Sewing!
