Handmade Giving - Garland

Handmade Giving - Garland

A few weeks ago we had an employee Sew In. We each created a Christmas garland out of materials in the shop. It was so much fun creating together and watching each others garlands come to life. Each garland is as unique and beautiful as the person that made it. Sunny used let and our Accuquilt circle cutter to cut a lot of 2" circles. It took her just 15 minutes to cut out all those circles and just 15 minutes to sew them together! If you are looking for a quick and easy garland with big impact, this is it! Laura used Heat-n-Bond to fuse two sheets of felt together. Then she cut out 6" circles with our Accuquilt. To make the letters she printed out the words using a font she liked, then cut the letters out and used them as a pattern. She hot glued the letters to the circles to make them really pop! Bree made these adorable trees out of linen and real sticks, then hand sewed them together with embroidery thread. We love the beautiful, organic feel of this garland. Chelle's peace signs were made by drawing the symbol on the fabric, stitching over it and then cutting away the fabric, leaving the raw edges. She hand sewed them together with embroidery thread to connect them. Roxanne used hand dyed wool, some sticks and a hot glue gun to create this garland, meant to look like twigs of pine. No sewing needed on this one! She tied the sticks together with twine to create the garland. Katie used THIS tutorial to make this felt candy strip garland. This is another quick and easy garland - Katie was done in no time! We hope our garlands have inspired you to get creative with your holiday decor this year. Each of these ideas would be great as a stand alone ornament too! Stop in the shop to see them up close and we'll help you gather the supplies to make your own. We had a great time getting in the holiday spirit together. Did you know our classroom is available for you to do the same thing?! Plan a crafty night with friends to work on your own projects, or schedule a private class and you can all learn a project together. It's a great way to spend time with friends and check something off your holiday to-do list. Find more information here or email registration@moderntextiles.net
