Summer Sewing - Beach Caftan

Summer Sewing - Beach Caftan

How are your summer sewing projects coming along? Room for one more? Kerry Finn from Blow's Sew and Vac made us this adorable sample for our summer display using a free pattern from weallsew.com which is sponsored by Bernina. Kerry's sample is made from an Anna Maria Horner rayon challis (that's currently on sale even!). Rayon gives it a beautiful drape and softness. Store bought clothes made from rayon are usually labeled as dry clean or hand wash only. The great thing about sewing your own garments is the chance to truly pre-shrink the fabric. We have had great luck pre-washing and drying rayon fabric before we sew our garments. Then you can just wash your finished garment in the same way! We have all been scrambling to make our own caftan while there's still time to use it. Connie was the first to finish hers out of this amazing new rayon from the latest Cotton + Steel release. Connie styled hers as a fun summer top instead of a cover up, but the flowy fabric still gives it a cool summer feel. Check out all our rayons here get the free pattern here and get started on your own coverup or flowy top today!
