Okay... I may have gone a little overboard with the Halloween quilts this year—but let’s be real: Halloween is my favorite holiday! Can there really be too many Halloween quilts? (The answer is obviously no.)

I'm rounding up my favorite spooky-season makes in one place—including some fun, fast modern quilt patterns, cozy backing tips, and longarm quilting inspo. Whether you’re looking for modern Halloween quilts, something bright and bold, or just a quick weekend project, you’re going to love these!

Cake Weave Quilt Pattern
Let’s kick things off with one of my own quilt designs—the Cake Weave Quilt Pattern! I made this version using the Hey Pumpkin line from Riley Blake Designs, paired with Charcoal Confetti Cotton (a great solid to contrast the black fabric). It’s a happy, not-too-spooky look that’s super kid-friendly!

This quilt pattern is both layer cake and fat quarter friendly, which makes it ideal for showcasing a bunch of your favorite Halloween prints. I stitched it up with the Candy Corn Twirl pantograph, and it plays so well with the candy corn fabrics in the top.
And yes, I backed it with black minky—because fall lounging demands cozy quilts.

Fat Quarter Color Weave Quilt Pattern
Next up is the Fat Quarter Color Weave Quilt Pattern—a fun and speedy finish from the team at Fat Quarter Shop. I was lucky enough to help test this one, and I chose to use Phantasm by Libs Elliott (she’s one of my absolute fav designers for modern, edgy prints).

This quilt was designed with strip piecing in mind, so it comes together quickly without sacrificing visual impact. I kept the black-and-white prints out for a different project and leaned into the saturated colors for this one. The movement across the quilt top is so good.

For quilting, I chose the Rose Skulls pantograph to highlight the skull motifs in the fabric line. The contrast between the colorful quilt top and the black-and-white wide back is amazing.

Cubism Quilt Pattern
I’ve had this Halloween fabric since my spring quilt retreat (oops?), but I finally put it to work with the Cubism Quilt Pattern from Toad & Sew. I picked up this adorable cat fabric at Stitch Supply Co. (yes, I make it a mission to shop while retreating—it’s part of the experience, right?).

The Cubism quilt is built with funky trapezoid blocks that make for a super cool and modern quilt pattern. It’s quick to piece, too! Just be sure to sew with a scant ¼” seam so your blocks trim nicely. Taylor’s instructions are clear and easy to follow, even with unique shapes.

For the backing, I used minky wide back (again—cozy is a priority), and a subtle pumpkin quilting design that played off the orange prints without overpowering them.
