Climbing Vines - a Modern Textiles Original
Climbing Vines Pantograph is a new favorite pantograph design of mine. It requires minimal setup and is a breeze to advance on the quilting machine. The alternating vines create a lovely wavy effect that adds loads of texture without overwhelming your quilt top. This design requires no offset, so it’s easy to align rows.
If you’re a beginner quilter, you’ll appreciate how easy this design is to set up. There are no points to match from one row to the next, making it a stress-free choice for those just starting. You can scale the design up for a faster stitch-out or size it down for more texture on your next quilt. It’s versatile, timeless, and adds a modern touch to your quilt designs.
Pro Tip: When using the Climbing Vines Pantograph, you’ll need to load your quilt top sideways so that the vines climb vertically on the quilt. There’s slight backtracking with the stitch path, but it’s minimal and doesn’t detract from the overall design.
If you love the Climbing Vines Pantograph, it’s available for purchase in my shop! Pass this link along to your favorite quilter or get more information below about having me long arm quilt your quilt.

Bringing My Star Shower Quilt to Life
For this project, I used the Climbing Vines Pantograph on a Star Shower quilt, a stunning pattern that’s no longer available. Fortunately, I managed to score a limited copy over at Mashe Modern, designed in collaboration with Maeberry Square. This pattern made for the perfect backdrop to showcase the Climbing Vines Pantograph.
The color palette I chose for this quilt is a soft, pastel-inspired combination. I used a fat quarter bundle from the line Hand Stitched Fabrics by Karen Lewis, paired with scraps of speckled wideback fabric for the background. The result is a calming color scheme perfect for changing your the decor of your home to spring time.
Bold Frame with Binding
To add a little pop to the quilt, I used some scraps of navy speckled fabric for the binding. This bold frame brings attention to the quilt while allowing the speckled fabric to shine as a contrasting element.
