Sincerely Yours Lucky Log Cabins Quilt - Quilt on bed with corner folded back to show backing

This is a first collaboration quilt with my daughter! If you are looking for a project that is easy for young hands to have a part in the Lucky Log Cabins quilt is right up your alley. Grab yourself a jelly roll to make the small throw with no background fabric. Read on to learn more about the Lucky Log Cabins quilt I made with the Sincerely Yours jelly roll.

If you love this fabric and want to snap up some pre-cuts I can't recommend Fat Quarter Shop enough. They are great for quick shipping and fantastic customer service. Sadly as of the time I'm writing this, Fat Quarter shop is sold out of the jelly rolls, but you can grab them at discount at Stash Fabrics- here. My daughter loved all the hearts and florals for the fabric and the colors were right up her alley.

What was great about this pattern is I had my daughter pull all the fabrics together for each of the blocks (talk about totally random!). Then the final quilt top layout I had her layout the quilts, talk about a great exercise in counting :)

Binding Method

This quilt was over the top fun from the get go, so why not add a scrappy border to the mix. I had a couple of strips leftover from the jelly roll and then found some other scraps to add to complete the binding.

Backing

I really love the soft backings for the cooler months and just in general - I came across this 60" wide fireside from Moda which is very similar to minky from Shannon Fabrics. The only differences I've noticed is it's not available in wide back (total bummer) and that the loft is a little less. Neither are a deal breaker for me. You can grab fireside here.

Quilting

Right before Valentines day I went a little wild on creating all of the heart pantos. I have to say Heart Peel is one of my favorites that I designed. It's a simple twist on a classic orange peel. It quilts out less densely in nature but it's the perfect undertone of hearts to this pink and purple quilt.
