If you haven’t seen Grape Soda Studio’s quilt patterns yet, you need to go check them out! They offer a fresh take on the classics, along with some super fun, modern quilt patterns in bold, bright fabrics (totally my jam!). This one is her Sticky Paws Quilt—where your classic bear paws are cleverly intertwined to create a dynamic and playful look.
My main recommendation when making this quilt? Have plenty of space to lay out your blocks. There are a ton of HSTs, and your eyes might cross at times—totally worth it, though!

OG Cotton + Steel from Rashida Coleman-Hale
A few years ago, Rashida Coleman-Hale was selling bundles of fabric from her personal stash, and I managed to snag this fun half-yard bundle. For the longest time, I wasn’t sure what to make with it... until the Sticky Paws Quilt Pattern popped up on my feed. It was the perfect match!
This fabric bundle beautifully showcases the large-scale prints, while the bold smaller prints add so much visual interest to all those HST triangles. It’s a great example of how a thoughtfully chosen quilt pattern can highlight your favorite prints in just the right way.

Bear Path Pantograph – A Modern Quilting Pantograph
When it comes to quilting design, I’m all about geometric vibes. For this one, I wanted something that gave a nod to the traditional bear paw motif but added a little twist with extra detail at the center.
After lots of sketching and playing around to avoid heavy backtracking and make row alignment easy (hello, no matching points!), I created the Bear Path Pantograph. It’s a fun blend of bear paw and modern square design—and it stitches out like a dream.
This panto is great for those looking for modern quilting pantographs with a classic touch.

Binding to Pull the Quilt Together
To tie the quilt top and backing together, I used a yellow fabric from my stash. It’s not a perfect match to the yellow in the quilt top, but it’s close enough! 😊
Also—can we talk about that backing fabric with the bacon and eggs? Unfortunately, when I pre-washed it, the blue bled onto the white of the print (sad day). But I couldn’t bring myself to toss it. I just knew I needed the right project to make it work... and this Sticky Paws Quilt was it.
Fun (and sad) fact: This flannel backing was a print from Joann’s, which—at the time of writing—is now fully closed down in my area and I see is being replaced by a Halloween Express across the US. RIP, Joann’s. 🥲
