Introducing the Horizon Quilt Pattern

Modern Textiles Horizon Quilt

Inspiration

The Horizon Quilt Pattern is a strip quilt with simple style and a modern vibe. When the skies are crystal blue and have those thin, long clouds that look like brush strokes - that's the inspiration for the Horizon Quilt Pattern.

Modern Textiles Horizon Quilt

The Horizon pattern has been rattling around my head for quite some time. I am so happy that it's finally been brought to life and that I overcame the fear that maybe a simple strip quilt was TOO simple to make a pattern for. This quilt is something that I am more than pleased to welcome into my living room, year round.

The Horizon Quilt pattern is great for any sewists wanting to perfect their 1/4" seam allowance. I am a huge fan of fast sews and loved that I could complete this quilt top in an afternoon. My pattern testers agreed that it's refreshing to be able to start and finish a quilt top in one day. Sometimes you just want an easy sew and the Horizon Quilt will not disappoint!

Options

The Horizon Quilt Pattern includes two different color-ways. One offers a single background color and the accent color. The three-color option allows for two background colors and the accent color. The accent fabric can be of all the same color or you can create an ombre effect like I did by selecting four different accent colors and using three width of fabric strips of each. If you have a remnant strips from a jelly roll this would be the prefect use for them.

With all the negative space you can really let the quilting style shine through on this pattern. Isn't it fun to go a little wild sometimes on the quilting? I've got a ton of fun edge to edge quilting designs I offer with my long arm quilting services, including the modern curves shown on the quilt below.

Fabric

For my grey and ombre Horizon Quilt, I used all Bella Solids the background being Zen Grey, from the top of the accent colors I used Egg Shell, Mist, Teal, Prussian Blue. For the backing I used Figo fabrics, Lucky Charms basics - fingers crossed. It had such a good distressed indigo look that I knew it would pair well with the quilt top.

UPDATE: I am currently out of stock on Zen Grey, Egg Shell, Prussian Blue and the fingers crossed fabric.

Pattern Testers - Next Week!

I have a solid team of pattern testers that helped me out for the Horizon Quilt. Next week I'll be featuring their work on the blog! I was lucky enough they all used my long arm quilting services for completing their quilts and it was so fun to see my own pattern on my long arm!
