Norma’s Patchwork Quilt

My friend Kait from Knot and Thread created this fun, quick quilt in memory of her grandmother. It’s perfect for a layer cake and some background fabric!

I wanted this quilt to feel retro-modern, so I grabbed a Meadow Star Layer Cake from Stitch Supply Co., paired it with the Citrine background fabric and a baby blue secondary color to make the quilt POP! It’s a little bold — totally my style — and I’m happy to take all the risks when it comes to fabric choices.

Bold Frame with Binding

For binding, I used Grannie Patch fabric to complement the Meadow Star prints. I love how the mini prints pop in the binding. Honestly, Alexia of Ruby Star Society keeps releasing hit after hit of fabric collections, and I just can’t get enough!

Quilt Backing

I adore big prints but sometimes struggle to showcase them—enter the quilt back! It’s the perfect spot to show off those larger-than-life prints, and this quilt’s backing definitely delivers. I got this fabulous fabric from my friend Meg at Monograms for Makers. She’s amazing at helping match colors and fabrics or pulling a full fabric bundle if you message her!
