Check out this Fun Bookmarks quilt, where I used my Twist Tie pantograph for a stunning finish! The Bookmarks quilt pattern is designed by Cotton and Joy, and it’s a fantastic project for fat quarters. I had leftover chambray fabric from a previous project, and when combined with some linen fat quarters, it created the softest and coziest Bookmarks quilt you could imagine. Quilting with the Twist Tie Pantograph

The Twist Tie pantograph design was inspired by an old-school wind-up toy that my kids had. As I began designing the pattern, the name "Twist Tie" popped into my head, and it has stuck ever since. This design is fantastic for beginner quilters because it’s simple to set up—no offset, no backtracking. The stitch path crosses over itself, ensuring no gaps in the stitches, which helps add texture without overwhelming the quilt design.

Whether you're new to quilting or an experienced quilter, this pantograph provides a perfect balance of texture and simplicity, making it an ideal addition to your next modern quilt.

Sewing with Tactile Wovens by Figo

When it comes to buying fabric online, I’ve found that purchasing a fat quarter bundle is always a great option. It ensures that the fabrics will coordinate, and you won’t regret your decision! This Tactile Wovens fat quarter bundle from Sewcial Stitch did not disappoint. This project marked the first time I used woven fabric in a quilt. My best tip when working with woven fabric is to reduce the stitch length since the weave is looser than traditional quilting cottons. I dropped my stitch length to about 1.2 on my quilting machine to ensure a smooth sew.

I used a medium chambray fabric from Moda for the quilt background, and I’m thrilled with how soft the quilt turned out.

Bold Binding for a Modern Touch

Sticking with my no-spend challenge, I used some scraps of Ruby Star Society Moonglow in natural wideback fabric for the binding. The natural print added just the right amount of fun and contrast to the quilt. It’s always nice to use up scraps and add a bit of personality to the quilt’s final edge!

Cozy Backing for Extra Comfort

For the backing, I used the last bit of my 60” Fireside fabric in Natural by Moda. This fabric has a lower pile than traditional cuddle fabrics but is incredibly soft and washes beautifully. While the natural color may not be my favorite, it’s perfect for our lifestyle. With young kids, dogs, and the occasional spill, the light beige color helps hide stains while still giving the quilt a soft, inviting feel.
