I have the 2-Tone Bella Solids version of the Not So XOXO Quilt to show you today. I'm going to name it the Black and White and Red all over quilt - or is that too old of a joke about the newspaper? :) If you are looking for a quick quilt to sew up, this is the one for you! I'm all about simplicity and this quilt will bring that into your home. Bella Solids
If you haven't used Moda's Bella Solids, you are missing out! I've tried out different lines of solids and this one has yet to be surpassed. It doesn't fray like other brands do. It also has a great weight to it. I know that the feel is subjective, but I for one love the way this feels compared to all the other brands. It may be why I keep a wide variety of colors on hand. For this project I used the Betty's Red and Off White. I was thinking of winter when picking these colors out and I think it'll be a great quilt for the winter months.
Binding
For this quilt I had extra of the backing fabric, so I decided to use that to frame out the quilt top and to blend the backing into the binding. Read below where I got this fabric from!
Backing
For the backing of this Not So XOXO Quilt, I had picked up a 100% Cotton sheet set that was on clearance at Target! For the whole set it was $10, so I have plenty of backing for this quilt and another sheet for maybe another lap size quilt. It's a classic plaid, you can't beat a good Target find! Just be sure that they are 100% cotton.
Quilting
Have I mentioned how much I love long arm quilting? Since I was going with the winter vibe on this Not So XOXO Quilt, I wanted to reflect that with the Sweater Weather pantograph from Threaded Quilting Studio. I think it goes great with the classic look of the quilt. If you'd like me to help out adding quilting to your quilt check out my long arm quilting information page to send your quilt in!
I'd love to see you put your own spin on the Not So XOXO Quilt - be sure to share your quilt on social media with the #NotSoXOXOQuilt and #mtsew
