Let us help you have the BEST SUMMER EVER!

Let us help you have the BEST SUMMER EVER!

Summer is finally here and if you’re like us the schedule of events is in full swing! Just finishing up the grad parties to start in on the weddings, right? Family reunions, baseball games, road trips and barbecues; it’s all great stuff, but it can start to feel like your summer is planned before it even starts! Don’t forget to make time for you and your creativity this summer. Schedule in some things for yourself on that calendar too! We’ve got a great selection of brand new classes and new dates for our favorites all ready for you. You can register right now on our website or stop in the store and we’ll take care of it for you! Make yourself a priority this summer too. We just have to tell you about a few of the new classes we are excited about! We are sure there is something for everyone.

Have you been following along with Roxanne and her Fancy Forest Quilt blog series? She’ll be posting an update later this week. And she’ll be starting a class for the quilt in July! Each month she’ll work on a new block with you. Come for them all, or join us for your favorite (or most challenging) blocks. We’ll start in July with the Fancy Fox, then Hazel Hedgehog in August and Bunny in September. Now’s the time to get started on Fancy Forest (and get a class discount on your supplies)!

Professional Quilter Clem Buzick is our newest instructor at Modern Textiles! We are so fortunate to get to learn from her experience and expertise. She will be teaching our new Intro to Paper Piecing class. The class is based off of the free Lawn Chair quilt blocks from Cotton + Steel. It is ridiculous how excited we are about these!! It just doesn’t get any cuter, don’t you agree?

We are so excited to be partnering with UpCraft Club – a new way to shop for the best PDF sewing patterns online all in one site. We will be teaching classes from patterns available on UpCraft starting in July. First up is the Biscayne Blouse with Instructor Jean Sando. The Biscayne is the perfect summer top – comfortable and casual but easily dressed up. You’ll need one in chambray for sure, and then a flowy rayon version and of course one in lawn would be the ultimate in cool comfort! Take the class with Jean to get the fit just right and work through all the steps. This class is perfect for the intermediate sewers out there. Not sure if that’s you? Check the class listing for more information.

Next from UpCraft is the Limon dress and top for girls. The kids’ clothes patterns on UpCraft are the BEST! Not only are they adorable, they typically have a really broad size range. The Limon for example includes sizes 6 months to 12 years! Join Instructor Kathleen Bergseth as she walks you through the steps to make the most adorable dress.

Have you taken Quilting 101 but just aren’t sure what to jump into next? We’ve got you covered with our new Quilting 102 class! You’ll practice the skills you gained on your first quilt and expand on them while you make Dash, a brand new quilt pattern from Heather Jones Studio. We got the chance to meet Heather at Quilt Market last month and we just knew her pattern would be the perfect next step for the new quilter. She does an amazing job of writing easy to understand patterns with great design. Check out her book Quilt Local to learn more about the designer. And watch for a new sample of this quilt coming soon! These are just a few of the new opportunities available for you to make some awesome projects and grow your sewing skills! And there’s much more. We've got classes listed through September!! Check out the full class calendar on our website now. We can’t wait to sew with you this summer! Roxanne & Connie Modern Textiles P.S. The fabric we ordered at Quilt Market is starting to roll in! Keep an eye on our social media pages (Facebook and Instagram) for more updates! Meanwhile, be sure to stop in soon before these fly out the door! 1. Pretty City in Linen 2. Pretty Poppy in Linen 3. All Mine in a Line in Navy 4. Heath in Dark Tea Rose
